Reading with Coffee

Our Book Clubs allow learners the chance to really dive into a topic. We choose three (sometimes four) books which all share some common theme, and then study them over the course of ten weeks.

The topics we choose are ones that we're passionate about and we believe that you'll love them as much as we do. That said, if what we're offering doesn't appeal to you, you're always welcome to suggest other themes.

As with our Discussion and Story Courses, we provide language feedback after each class and also invite you to submit a written piece (there are a selection of genres to choose from) which we will also give you feedback on. All members also gain access to our Learner Training platform where we provide tasks and tips to help you develop your language.

We usually invite learners who have a C1 level, simply because the texts we read can be pretty difficult. That said, background knowledge and a willingness to work hard could make these texts accessible even if your level is a little lower so do get in touch if you're not sure.

Our next Book Club, starting at the end of June, is all about Society. We'll be reading three books: Why I'm not Longer Talking to White People about Race by Reni Eddo-Lodge; Another Day in the Death of America by Gary Younge; and Poverty Safari by Darren McGarvey.

The cost is a little less per week than our other courses, because we appreciate you will have to buy the books on top of the course price. It is £120 for ten weeks.
