COMMON QUESTIONS

HOW ARE YOUR COURSES DIFFERENT?

In our courses, English is a tool rather than the focus. You read and listen to different texts every week and the purpose is to talk about what you think with your classmates. Language feedback is delivered as homework and doesn't take up much, if any, of your face-to-face time.

WHAT COURSE IS RIGHT FOR ME?

This depends mostly on your level. We state the required level for each course in the course description. If you're not sure what level you are, feel free to contact us and we can assess you and advise you on the best course for you.

WHAT'S INCLUDED IN THE DISCUSSION GROUPS?

You receive access to two core texts every week which you are required to read or listen to before class. In addition to this, we give you optional extra materials which you can read or listen to if the topic interests you. We also provide you with links to vocabulary resources related to the week's theme. Finally, language feedback for the group discussion is provided after every session and you have the opportunity to submit one piece of writing for feedback every month.

WHAT'S INCLUDED IN THE STORY GROUPS?

Unlike the discussion groups, which include a mix of genres, the Story groups always read stories. We send you a different short story every week, appropriate for the level of the group, and we talk about the book in the sessions. Links to other similar books, articles, or vocabulary materials are also provided. You have the opportunity to submit one piece of writing for feedback every month.

ARE YOU ONLY ONLINE?

At the moment, we are exclusively online. We use Google Classroom to present the reading and listening material and to communicate between classes. Our meetings take place on Google Meet.

HOW OFTEN ARE YOUR CLASSES?

Each course meets online once a week, for one hour. You will have to prepare for this by reading or listening to set materials for the week. This usually takes about 90 minutes, but will vary from week to week and learner to learner.

DO YOU HAVE A SPECIFIC TEACHING QUALIFICATION?

Yes, I do. I completed the Cambridge DELTA in 2018. I have been teaching English since 2012 in various capacities, both online and face-to-face. I've worked in Belgium, Spain and the UK, and I've taught students from all over the world.

HOW DO I PAY FOR A COURSE?

At the moment, we are accepting bank transfer but will consider other options, depending on demand. Please note all prices are GBP.

WHAT IS 'LEARNER TRAINING'?

Learner Training is a platform that all of our students, regardless of course, can join. There are tips and tasks uploaded every week which can help learners use their self-study more effectively.

HOW MANY STUDENTS ARE IN A GROUP?

Our maximum class size is five. Any more than that, and it becomes very difficult to have a constructive discussion online, which is the point of these courses, after all.
